PPI UK Olympics 2026 Brings Indonesian Community Together
Indonesian students and diaspora members from across the United Kingdom gathered in Manchester for PPI UK Olympics 2026, celebrating unity through sports, arts, and culture.
United Kingdom – More than just a sporting event, PPI UK Olympics 2026 became a celebration of unity, friendship, and Indonesian identity. For this, hundreds of student and diaspora member from across the United Kingdom gathered in Manchester Saturday (6/6/2026).
Organized by the Indonesian Students Association in the United Kingdom (PPI UK), this year's event carried the theme Beyond Limit, Bound by Spirit. The message resonated strongly among participants who traveled from different regions of the UK, some spending several hours on the road to attend the annual gathering.
Held at Platt Lane Sports Complex, the event brought together representatives from approximately 35 Indonesian student associations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Throughout the day, participants competed in sports and arts competitions while strengthening connections within the Indonesian community abroad.
Building Community Through Competition
The Olympics featured a wide range of contests, from football and volleyball to badminton, photography, illustration, music, dance, and cultural performances.
Host delegation PPI Manchester enjoyed a successful campaign, winning championships in football, volleyball, and women’s doubles badminton. Other titles were distributed across the country, highlighting the diversity and talent of Indonesian students throughout the UK.

PPI Edinburgh claimed victories in Mobile Legends and men’s doubles badminton, while PPI Nottingham emerged as champion in mixed doubles badminton.
Creative competitions also attracted strong participation. The photography category was won by I Gde Yudhi Hendrawan from Nottingham with his work titled “My Identity Remains Indonesian.” Meanwhile, Fitrikhasanah Srihadining Putri from Warwick & Coventry secured first place in the illustration category.
According to PPI UK President Muhammad Fachrul Hudallah, the true success of the event was measured not by trophies but by the commitment shown by participants.
“The sacrifice of time and energy made by participants who traveled from all corners of the United Kingdom is the key to the success of this event,” he said.
Gala Nusantara Celebrates Indonesian Culture
The festivities concluded with Gala Nusantara, a cultural awards night held at The Grove Bar in Manchester. Traditional Balinese and Javanese dances opened the evening, followed by musical performances and showcases of participants’ creative works.
The event was attended by Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the International Maritime Organization, Desra Percaya. In his remarks, he praised Indonesian students and diaspora members for maintaining a strong sense of nationalism while living overseas.
“Wherever you are, Indonesia must remain united as one nation,” he said.
As the curtain closed on PPI UK Olympics 2026, participants left with more than medals and awards. They carried home a renewed sense of belonging, proving that geographical distance can strengthen, rather than weaken, the bonds connecting Indonesians abroad. (*)
