TIMES MALAYSIA, JEMBER – Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Jember, East Java, Antrokan Waterfall is emerging as one of the most accessible and breathtaking natural attractions in the region.

With its combination of scenic beauty, adventure, and ease of access, it’s no wonder this waterfall is quickly gaining the attention of nature lovers and local travelers.

Easy Access and Natural Charm

What sets Antrokan Waterfall apart from many other waterfalls in Indonesia is its convenience. Situated in a rural area yet connected by relatively smooth roads, the site is reachable by both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.

“This waterfall is very easy to access because the road is fairly smooth. Both four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles can reach close to the site,” explained Bambang Rudy, Head of Jember’s Tourism and Culture Department, on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Upon arrival, visitors can park their vehicles in a designated parking area and then enjoy a leisurely 300-meter walk along a paved path. This short trek is suitable for families with children, casual walkers, and even elderly visitors.

“There’s a parking area, and then we walk along a paving stone path for about 300 meters. It’s very easy to access,” Rudy added.

The waterfall itself is a majestic sight, standing around 50 meters tall. With an average water flow of 10,000 cubic meters, Antrokan delivers a powerful cascade of water that crashes into a natural pool below.

The surrounding environment is rich with vegetation, offering a peaceful and refreshing ambiance perfect for unwinding or enjoying a quiet picnic.

A Developing Destination with Local Potential

The tourist area around Antrokan covers about 5 hectares and is fully situated on village-owned land. This makes future development and management much simpler, allowing the community to be directly involved in preserving and improving the site.

As tourism increases, locals are hopeful that Antrokan can help support the economy while remaining a clean and protected environment.

Travel Tips for a Better Experience

When planning a visit to Antrokan Waterfall, it is best to come during the dry season, which typically runs from May to September. During this time, the weather is more predictable, and the paths are less slippery, making the experience safer and more pleasant.

Visitors are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes or sandals with good grip, especially since the short walk to the waterfall may involve slight inclines or damp areas. While the path is paved, proper footwear will ensure a more enjoyable walk.

Don’t forget to bring essentials such as a hat, sunscreen, and bottled water. Since the area is still developing, facilities like food stalls or rest areas may be limited, so being prepared is important.

For photography enthusiasts, visiting in the early morning is highly recommended. The natural lighting is ideal at that time, and the site is usually quieter, allowing you to take stunning photos without crowds.

Above all, remember to respect nature. Antrokan is still a relatively untouched site, and maintaining its cleanliness is key to preserving its beauty. Avoid littering, stay on designated paths, and support local conservation efforts whenever possible.

With its raw beauty, easy access, and welcoming atmosphere, Antrokan Waterfall is a must-visit destination for those exploring Jember or East Java. Whether you're a solo traveler, a couple, or a family, the experience is sure to leave you with lasting memories. (*)
