TIMES MALAYSIA, SURABAYA – In the heart of busy Surabaya, Taman Harmoni has emerged as a refreshing green oasis. This newly inaugurated park provides residents and visitors with a space to relax and unwind.

It is more than a park—it’s an integrated destination combining nature, learning, and culture. Located in Keputih Tegal Timur, Sukolilo District, the park reflects a bold vision for the city’s future. The theme Harmony of The World supports Surabaya’s goal of becoming a global city that is modern, humane, and sustainable.

Eri Cahyadi, the Mayor of Surabaya emphasized the importance of these values at the park’s launch. “Progress is meaningless without human connection,” he stated in his speech (3/7/2025). The park’s development demonstrates the city’s commitment to thoughtful urban planning with a human touch.

Family-Friendly and Educational Attractions

Taman Harmoni is thoughtfully designed for families and people of all ages. It features a large playground area divided by age groups for safety and enjoyment. Children under five and those over five can play in separate, suitable spaces.

One key attraction is the animal education zone. Here, kids can interact directly with rabbits, bantam chickens, and ponies. This promotes both fun and learning through hands-on experiences. The park also includes flying fox rides and horse-riding areas for older children. A mini traffic zone teaches children about road safety using small ATVs and toy motorcycles.

Culinary Delights and UMKM Support

Taman Harmoni is not only about play and education, but also food and local culture. The Pasar Ngisor Pring or Sorpring culinary zone is located in a shaded bamboo grove. This area features a range of food options from traditional to modern cuisines. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing meal in the natural surroundings.

To support small businesses, the city encourages visitors not to bring outside food or drinks. Mayor Eri announced a plan for an entrance ticket system. Ticket prices will range from IDR 15,000 to 20,000 and come with vouchers. These vouchers can be used to buy food or rent mats from local UMKM vendors.

A Model for Sustainable Tourism

Taman Harmoni spans eight hectares and is still expanding. The Surabaya government plans to add better transportation access to the site. By 2026, roads from MERR to the park will be widened to ease travel.

Eri said tourism infrastructure must grow along with the destination. He thanked the DPRD, stakeholders, and citizens for supporting the project.

Taman Harmonii not just a mere fun park, but it's alsoart of an educational hub. Not only the locals but foreign toursit like those Malaysian coming to this place after they saw it on YouTube. The park’s six zones represent the continents, featuring animals and culture from each one.

With its thoughtful design, cultural richness, and support for local communities, Taman Harmoni stands as a testament to Surabaya’s evolving identity as a humane and sustainable city. More than just a park, it symbolizes a forward-thinking vision where green spaces educate, connect, and empower.(*)
