TIMES MALAYSIA, JAKARTA – Fauzul Azhim Bin Fakhrurazi, Chairman of NYC Indonesia in Turkey, has achieved a remarkable milestone by being elected as President of SEA Youth Community or the Southeast  Asian Community in Turkey. This election was held together with SEA Youth Summit 2024.

The event was held for two days at Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University on October 26-27, 2024. The event was attended by influential figures, including the Philippine Ambassador to Turkey, Henry S. Bensurto, and Hardiyanto Kurniawan, a representative from the Indonesian Consulate General. 

The SEA Youth Summit 2024 attracted more than 150 participants from 8 ASEAN countries and 14 additional nations. With its diverse participants, the summit offered a platform rich with international perspectives, fostering meaningful discussions.

The main themes were ASEAN-Turkey Partnership and Youth Empowerment for Global Peace. Discussions centered on strengthening strategic partnerships between ASEAN and Turkey in areas such as economics, education, and culture, as well as empowering youth as change agents to promote sustainable global peace.

In the election for leadership of the Southeast Asian Youth community, a consensus was reached among delegates from the 8 ASEAN countries, selecting three individuals to lead this organization. Fauzul Azhim Bin Fakhrurazi from Indonesia was elected as President, Imran Rasid from Malaysia as Secretary-General, and Muhammad Hamdan Hamdanee from Thailand as Treasurer.

The trio is expected to guide the organization’s vision and mission, fostering closer and more productive cooperation among Southeast Asian youth at both national and international levels.

In his acceptance speech, Fauzul expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him and affirmed his commitment to strengthening solidarity among Southeast Asian youth. He emphasized the importance of collaboration to address regional challenges, including climate change, educational advancement, and economic resilience.

"I will mobilize the organization as a positive collaborative force, inspiring youth to contribute to sustainable development and advocate for global peace," she said.

With the participation of over 150 attendees from various nations, SEA Youth Summit 2024 provided ASEAN youth with valuable networking opportunities and a platform to share ideas on solutions to crucial issues. The forum is anticipated to mark the beginning of stronger partnerships between ASEAN and Turkey and broaden opportunities for youth to play a significant role in international relations.

Fauzul, along with Imran and Muhammad Hamdan as the newly elected leaders, hold strategic roles in championing initiatives that will reinforce youth’s role as agents of change.

Fauzul’s leadership as President of SEA Youth Community was expected to establish a proactive, cohesive network of youth dedicated to creating a future for Southeast Asia that is inclusive, peaceful, and highly competitive, placing youth at the forefront of more harmonious inter-nation relations.
